【Experience daily life of Tokyo and tea ceremony】
Downtown Shitamachi Tour

Description

Ride one of the oldest tramway in the center of Tokyo. Along the track, you may see how the cityscape reflects the daily lives of people living in downtown. You can visit a shrine, walk through retro shopping districts or try tea ceremony as you get "hands-on" with the lives and culture of shitamachi.

Customer Review

It was very nice that I get to see real life of people living in Tokyo unlike popular sightseeing spots. Tea ceremony was such a good Japanese cultural experience. Using chauffuer service was much more relaxing than to take train or bus.

Tokyo Sakura Tram(Toden Arakawa Line)

This is one of only two tramways remaining in Tokyo's urban center. You can get a glance of retro atmosphere and the old-fashioned lifestyles of downtown shitamachi. To make an urban hike along the Toden line, we recommend getting an all day Toden pass. You will have full access to the train all day with only 400 yen. Note that you board from the front and get off at the back. Since most stations are unattended, the driver will manage people getting on and off. Tickets can be purchased on board.

Nezu-jinja Shrine

An ancient shrine founded 1900 years ago by Yamato Tekeru (also known as Prince Osu) according to Japanese myth. The premises include a Prayer Pine-tree famous for couples, an Otome-Inari Shrine, a Japanese thousand-torii gate pathway and romon tower gate. Located directly north of the Imperial palace, it is escaped damage in natural disasters and fire bombing and retains a distinctive Edo style. All Edo-period structures that remain today are considered to represent miracles and this shrine is designated as an important national cultural property.
